Reading Fightin Phils News Release

(Reading, PA) -- Chad Beck tossed six solid innings, Yan Gomes went 2-4 with a home run and three RBIs, and the New Hampshire Fisher Cats beat the Reading Phillies 7-2 in game two of their four-game series from FirstEnergy Stadium in Reading, PA on Tuesday night.

New Hampshire (14-9) earned a win for the second-straight day - moving within one game of the R-Phils in the standings. Beck (3-0, 2.42) allowed two runs on four hits over six innings to earn his third win of the season. He is now 2-0 with a 1.93 ERA in two road starts this year.

Offensively, Reading had just six hits on the entire evening -- struggling to score against Beck and four New Hampshire relievers. Reading shortstop Freddy Galvis went 2-4 with a double and a run scored and Matt Rizzotti launched his third home run of the season - a mammoth blast in the sixth inning off of Beck.

Reading starter Chris Kissock (1-3, 5.34) allowed three runs in the second inning and one in the third inning, but settled down the rest of the way. In all, he allowed four runs on five hits over seven innings, but was saddled with the loss. He walked none and fanned six.

The R-Phils (16-9) will look to win their first game of the series when they take the field in game three on Wednesday morning. Taking the mound for Reading will be RHP Mike Cisco (3-0, 1.96), who will make his first start of the season. Cisco, 23, has appeared in five games out of the bullpen this season and has pitched effectively. The South Carolina native tossed three shutout innings on Saturday, April 29 against Portland.

On the hill for New Hampshire in Wednesday's game three matchup will be RHP B.J. LaMura (1-1, 1.80). LaMura, a native of Mineola, NY, allowed three runs -- two earned, on four hits over five innings in his last outing, which was back on April 29. He was saddled with his first loss of the season.

Coverage begins with the R-Phils pre-game show at 10:35 a.m. on ESPN Radio 1240 AM WIOV. R-Phils play-by-play broadcaster Brian Seltzer will have the call for all of the action. The game can also be seen on Service Electric Cable TV-2 sports. First-pitch is set for 11:05 a.m.
