SAVANNAH, Ga. - Noel Castillo tossed six superb innings and the RiverDogs hung on for a 4-3 victory over the Sand Gnats on Saturday night.

The RiverDogs hit Gnats starter Nick Carr (1-2) hard in the first, stringing together four consecutive hits en route to a three run inning.

Castillo (7-4) took the mound with a 3-0 lead and breezed through the Savannah lineup, permitting 1 run on 3 hits in 6.0 innings to earn the win.

In the fourth, Juan Lagares reached base on a bunt single before Casey Craig doubled to left to score him with Savannah's first run.

The Gnats (3-7, 36-44) scored a pair in the eighth to pull within a run. Carlos Guzman reached on a double when his pop up fell in shallow center. Greg Veloz then moved Guzman to third when he reached on an infield single. Juan Lagares stroked an opposite-field double to left, scoring Guzman and advancing Veloz to third.

Casey Craig extended the rally when he dropped a bunt single towards third base to score Veloz and send Lagares to third. Charleston closer Jonathan Ortiz was summoned to quell the threat and he coaxed an inning-ending groundout from Jose Jimenez to escape the jam.

Nick Giarraputo ripped a double down the line in left with two outs in the ninth but was stranded when Carlos Guzman struck out to end the game.

The homestand finale is 2 p.m. Sunday with the BIG CW Kids Sunday presented by CW and BIG 98.3. Kids can receive player autographs and run the bases after the game. RHP Maikel Cleto (2-5, 3.43) takes the hill for Savannah while RHP Adam Olbrychowski (5-3, 3.41) starts for Charleston. For more information, call 912.351.9150 or visit www.sandgnats.com.
