Carlson commits to Cleveland

Today, Tim Alexander, GM/Head Coach of the Cleveland Barons Junior A team, members of the North American Hockey League announced the signing of USA Hockey Under 18 team goalie Chris Carlson.

Carlson, the Plainfield, IL native was born on 3/9/86 and is 5'10" and 171 lb. The past two years Carlson has been playing with the United States National Development Team in Ann Arbor, MI. Carlson played his midget hockey with the Chicago Chill.

In the 2003 04 season Carlson played in a total of 21 games posting a 11-7-2 record with a 3.63 GAA. And a .874 saves pct. In games played in the North American Hockey League, Carlson was 3-1-1 with a 1.77 GAA and a .939 saves percentage with 1 shutout.

"We are very excited that Chris has decided to play for our hockey club this coming season. With his experience playing college and international games the past two seasons he will very much be a leader on our team. Chris handles the puck very well and that should be a big asset to our defense. I am sure he will draw a lot of attention from college scouts" stated Alexander.

In international play Carlson had a perfect 6 - 0 record. With the Chill in the 2001-02 season Carlson posted a 33-11-1 record with a 2.19 GAA and a .912 saves pct.

The Barons open their home part of the 2004-05 season on Saturday, September 25 against the USA National Development Team at the IceLand USA Arena, 15381 Royalton Rd. , Strongsville, OH. Game time 7:00. For more information call 440-268-2800.
