WINSTON-SALEM, NC (JUNE 21, 2012) - Dash middle infielder Carlos Sanchez has been chosen to play in the All-Star Futures Game July 8 in Kansas City, two days before the MLB All-Star Game. The Futures Game showcases the top prospects across all of minor league baseball. Sanchez will play for the World team when they face the U.S. squad.

The 19-year-old Sanchez leads the Carolina League with 85 hits on the season. He has a batting average of .327 with 32 RBI and one home run in 66 games with the Dash.

The Maracay, Venezuela native is putting up his best offensive numbers of his career in his fourth season of professional baseball. Sanchez was signed as a non-drafted free agent in 2009 and spent two seasons playing in the Dominican Summer League.

Sanchez joins Daniel Hudson as the only members of the Dash to ever be selected for the All-Star Futures Game. Hudson, now with the Arizona Diamondbacks, was a member of the 2009 Dash team before being selected to the 2010 Futures Game.

Sanchez will be joined by Salem shortstop Xander Bogaerts, Carolina first baseman Jesus Aguilar, and Wilmington pitcher Yordano Ventura on the World roster. The U.S. squad features Salem pitcher Matt Barnes and Frederick right-hander Dylan Bundy.

The Dash are first-half Southern Division Champions and earned their 25th postseason appearance since joining the Carolina League. The second-half of the season begins Thursday in Potomac. Winston-Salem returns home Sunday with a 5:00 p.m. start against the Salem Red Sox.
