Springfield received three-hit efforts out of Charlie Tilson (HR, 2), Anthony Garcia and Bruce Caldwell in the victory. Springfield created some separation with a four-run top of the seventh to make it an 8-2 lead after six and a half innings of play. In total the Cardinals pushed across eight runs on 13 hits in the game one victory.
RHP Kyle McGowin took the loss for Arkansas by surrendering four runs (all earned) on seven hits in five innings, with one strikeout and no walks.
The Travelers belted a pair of home runs in the game one loss, including a two-run shot in the fifth inning from C Zach Wright (HR, 2) and a leadoff homer by RF Blake Gailen (HR, 3) in the bottom of the seventh.
In game two, Springfield scored a run in each of the first four innings, plating six runs in total through the first four frames. All six of those runs each came with two outs.
LHP Jimmy Reed (W, 2-1) retired the first eight batters he faced and 14 of the first 15. Reed struck out seven over five walk-free innings, giving up a lone run on three hits. LHP Ryan Sherriff and RHP Chris Thomas each worked 1-2-3 innings in relief to end the game for Springfield.
Wade Hinkle (HR, 6) drove in the Travelers' only run of game two, blasting a two-out solo home run to right field in the bottom of the fifth inning.
With the pair of wins, Springfield now leads the series 2-1 going into Sunday's series finale.
