SPRINGDALE, Ark. - On Sunday afternoon, LHP Cody Reed (1-0 1.50 ERA) made his debut for the Naturals after being called up from Advanced-A Wilmington on Wednesday and was dominant as Northwest Arkansas (2-4, 42-34) defeated Tulsa (4-2, 34-41) by the score of 12-1 to split the four game series. Today was the final game before the Texas League All-Star break from June 29-July 1.

Reed, the 46th overall pick by the Kansas City Royals in the 2013 June Amateur Draft out of Northwest Mississippi CC, shined in his first Double-A start as he received the win by holding the Tulsa offense at bay, only giving up one run and four hits in six innings of work while striking out five on the day. The 6-foot-5 southpaw joined the Naturals after being a Mid-Season All-Star in the Carolina League as a starter for Wilmington where he led the league in in ERA (2.14) and ranked fifth in strikeouts (65).

After Tulsa got on the board with a run in the top of the first, the Naturals' had an immediate response in the home half of the frame as Bubba Starling and Jorge Bonifacio were walked back-to-back with one out before Balbino Fuenmayor tied the game 1-1 by scoring Starling on a single to shallow left field.

The Naturals' would take the lead in the bottom half of the second inning when Alex Liddi launched a solo home run, his sixth of the season, into center field to give the Naturals a 2-1 lead. Bubba Starling then extended the lead to 3-1 with a single to center field with two out to score Lane Adams, who singled and stole second earlier in the inning.

The Naturals continued their offensive onslaught against Tulsa starting pitcher RHP Jeremy Kerht (4-6 3.76 ERA), who would take the loss for Tulsa, by jumping him for four more runs in the bottom half of the third inning to extend their lead to 7-1. The Naturals would go on to score two more runs in the fourth inning and three more in the sixth inning to set the final score at 12-1.

Lane Adams, Balbino Fuenmayor, Hunter Dozier, and Alex Liddi all enjoyed multi-hit games as the Naturals collected sixteen hits in the victory. Alex Liddi hit his second solo home run of the game in the sixth inning, his seventh of the season, to center field again, and Zane Evans followed suit with a two home run of his own, his sixth of the season, into the batter's eye in center field.

Today was the last game before the All-Star break as the 2015 Texas League All-Star Game will be played in Corpus Christi on Tuesday, June 30. The Naturals will begin on the road following the break with three (3) games against the Frisco RoughRiders and another three (3) games in Midland before returning to Arvest Ballpark for a 6-game homestand on Wednesday, July 8 at 7:05pm.
