Tulsa Drillers News Release

The Tulsa Drillers season high six-game winning streak came to end Saturday night with a 2-1 loss in 11 innings at Northwest Arkansas. The Drillers forced extra innings with a run in the ninth, but Oklahoma native Lane Adams ended the streak with a two-out hit in the bottom of the 11th for the Naturals.

The defeat overshadowed another impressive outing from starting pitcher Jose De Leon. The right-hander surrendered only two hits in six shutout innings for the Drillers. He walked two batters and struck out seven. In his past three starts, De Leon has given up only 3 runs in 17 innings of work.

Northwest Arkansas starter Jonathan Dziedzic was also effective, working five shutout frames.

The first run of the game came in the bottom of the seventh. The Naturals' Hunter Dozier led off with a base hit against reliever Ryan Dennick and advanced into scoring position on a wild pitch. Dozier came home on a one-out hit by Kenny Diekroeger.

The Drillers appeared to be headed to a 1-0 defeat but evened the score with their ninth-inning run. Brian Burgamy led off the ninth with a base hit and gave way to pinch runner Peter Lavin. With Lavin at second and the Naturals one out away from a win, Kyle Farmer delivered a clutch two-out hit. His double plated Lavin and tied the game at 1-1.

It remained that way until Adams came through in the eleventh. The rally began when Jorge Bonifacio led off with a double against Ralston Cash. Cash sandwiched an intentional walk around a pair of strikeouts before Terrance Gore kept the inning alive with an infield hit. With the bases full, Adams lined a base hit into right field to bring Bonifacio home with the game winner.

Each team finished with 10 hits in the contest. Yadir Drake accounted for much of Tulsa's work with a season high four hits. Burgamy finished with a pair of singles.

Northwest Arkansas reliever Aroni Nina improved his record to 3-2 with the win, while the loss dropped Cash's record to 0-4.

The Drillers and Naturals will conclude their four-game set Sunday afternoon. It will be the final game before the Texas League takes a three-day break for the league all-star game. Jeremy Kehrt (4-5, 3.05 ERA) will pitch the finale for Tulsa, while Cody Reed (5-5, 2.14 ERA at Wilmington) is expected to make his Double-A debut for Northwest Arkansas. First pitch is scheduled for 2:05PM at Arvest Ballpark.
