
Cards Look to Rebound Tuesday vs. Burlington

JOHNSON CITY - The Johnson City Cardinals will look to rebound vs. the Burlington Royals Tuesday at TVA Credit Union Ballpark after dropping the series opener 13-0 Monday. Mateo Gil and Carlos Soler each carded multi-hit games in the loss.
The Cards and Royals will play the middle game of the three-game series Tuesday. First pitch is slated for 6:30 p.m. RHP Julio Puello (3-2, 4.60 ERA) is expected to start for Johnson City vs. LHP Marlin Willis (0-0, 3.68 ERA) for Burlington.
Luis Ortiz (0-2) got the start for the Cardinals in Game 1 vs. Burlington. The righty threw well over five innings, limiting the Royals to just three runs (two earned). Burlington tagged Tyler Peck for an unearned run in the seventh and then added nine runs (nine earned) vs. Alex Gallegos in the eighth and ninth to put the game out of reach.
Gil and Soler each finished with two hits. The multi-hit effort was the ninth of the season for Gil and the sixth of the season for Soler. The Cardinals committed four errors. The margin of defeat was the largest of the season for Johnson City.
The Royals were paced by William Hancock, who finished with four hits. Delvin Capellan (3-1) earned the win after shutting out the Cardinals for five innings to begin the game.
Johnson City has won 10 of its last 14, including six of its last eight at home. The Cards maintain the opportunity to win a fifth straight series. 2,462 turned out to see it Monday at TVA Credit Union Ballpark.
