JUPITER, Fla. - The Palm Beach Cardinals (17-7, 49 - 45) defeated the Bradenton Marauders in walk-off fashion in game one of this three game series at Roger Dean Stadium. With two outs, two runners on base, and the game tied at two, Casey Turgeon found the gap in right centerfield to win it for the Beach Birds.

After scoring two runs in the bottom of the second to take the lead, the Marauders tied the game in the top of the fourth inning. Bradenton got on the board in the top of the second after Erich Weiss scored on a passed ball. In the top of the fourth, the Marauders scored in similar fashion with Barrett Barnes crossing home plate on a wild pitch. Both runs were charged to starting pitcher, Alex Reyes.

In his first start after being on the disabled list, Reyes threw three innings and allowed two runs on two hits with six strikeouts. In the top of the fourth, he walked Weiss, who later scored that inning. Once the walk was issued, Lee Stoppelman came out of the bullpen to throw three innings of his own. He allowed one hit, issued one walk, and struck out JaCoby Jones.

Tonight's winning pitcher, Silfredo Garcia (1-1), entered the game in the top of the seventh to relieve Stoppelman. Garcia allowed two hits during his outing, both in the eighth inning. With two outs and runners on the corners, Garcia was backed up by Palm Beach's defense to end the inning with a ground out.

The Beach Birds took their first lead of the game in the bottom of the second with a two RBI double by Carson Kelly. Kelly plated Luke Voit and Blake Drake after Voit reached on a walk and Drake singled to up the middle. With one out, Kelly smacked the ball to left centerfield for his twelfth double of the season.

The Beach Birds will continue their home stand on Monday, July 20 for game two of this three game series against Bradenton. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. On Wednesday, Palm Beach will play host to the Lakeland Flying Tigers for a four game series.
