Springfield, MO - The Springfield Cardinals are excited to announce the 2010 All-Star Team participants for the 74th Texas League All-Star game in Midland, Texas June 30th.

Rosters for both the North and South Divisions were announced today by league president Tom Kayser at Citibank Ballpark earlier today.

The Northwest Arkansas Naturals led all clubs with eight all-star selections, including five starters. There were seven Cardinals selected to the North Division squad including three starters: Catcher Steven Hill (.281, 9 HR, 39 RBI), First Baseman Curt Smith (.280, 7 HR and 31 RBI) and Outfielder Aaron Luna (.259, 7 HR and 28 RBI).

The Cardinals also will be represented by Pitch David Kopp who leads the league in wins (8) and is 6th in ERA (2.61), Outfielder Adron Chambers (.279, 3 HR, 20 RBI, 4 3B), Pitcher Eduardo Sanchez (1-1, 2.86 ERA and 9 saves) and Pitcher Scott Gorgen (5-1, 1.17 ERA). With Gorgen currently on the disabled list with a right elbow sprain, he will be replaced by Pitcher Brian Broderick (2-1, 2.25 ERA) of the Cardinals.

"We are honored to have seven All-Stars this season" said Vice President and General Manager Matt Gifford. "These players have represented our team and themselves with the upmost class and deserve to be in Midland to participate in the All-Star Game."

The San Antonio Missions and Midland RockHounds also had seven selections while Tulsa had six, Frisco and Corpus Christi each had five and the Arkansas Travelers had three.

Balloting was conducted among the league's managers, broadcasters, media relations directors and selected media members.

The All-Star game returns to West Texas for the fourth time in the 39-year history of the Midland franchise. The Angels hosted the contest in 1984 and 1994 (both at Angels/Christensen Stadium), and the RockHounds hosted the 2004 contest at Citibank (then known as First American Park) Ballpark.
