
Captains sweep oubleheader

Charleston, WV (June 17, 2007) - After scoring 12 runs on 19 hits in a 12-4 victory during the day, the Lake County Captains held the Power to a run on six hits and took the night cap of the doubleheader at Appalachian Power Park by the final of 5-1.
The Power plated their only run on Taylor Green's two out, run scoring single in the fourth inning. Shawn Ferguson had a no-hitter going until Carlos Rivero doubled with two outs in the fifth inning. Rivero scored later in the fifth to tie the game on Alex Castillo's single.
Cirilo Cumberbatch doubled in a run in the sixth inning and scored later in the frame on Roman Pena's base hit. Rivero struck again in the eighth inning with an RBI double and Matt Whitney plated Lake County's final run on a Sacrifice Fly in the ninth inning.
Carlton Smith (4-5) got the victory while Jared Sutton (0-1) was tagged with the loss after surrendering two runs on three hits through two innings. Shawn Ferguson tossed five strong innings, allowing just a run on two hits with four strikeouts.
The Power fell to 47-20 with the loss and the Captains improved to 31-38 with the win. Chuckie Caufield was the only Power player with a multi-hit game, as he recorded two of the Power's six hits.
The Power will finish the first half against the Lake County Captains at Appalachian Power Park on Sunday evening. Left hander Mike Ramlow (2-2, 7.33) for the Power and the Captains will counter with right hander Steve Wright (4-7, 4.72). The first pitch is schedule for 5:05 PM.
