Kannapolis Blasts its Way to Blow-Out Win over Greensboro

Kannapolis, NC - The Kannapolis Intimidators got out of its rut against the Greensboro Grasshoppers, clobbering the Grasshoppers, 19-4, at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium. In this season series, it has usually been the Grasshoppers (38-31) exploding on the offensive end. However, Saturday night, the Intimidators (31-38) put up a season-high 19 runs on a season-high 22 hits.
Chris Carter busted out of an 8-for-44 slump with two two-run home runs in his first two at-bats on his way to a 4-for-5 night with two home runs, two singles, four runs batted in, and five runs scored. Brandon Allen went 5-for-6 with four singles, a double, two RBIs, and four runs scored. All nine Intimidators starters had at least one hit and seven of the nine starters drove in at least one run. Kannapolis scored in seven of the eight innings.
Jake Rasner (4-6) went five innings, giving up three runs on eight hits. Ricky Brooks threw three solid innings of relief, allowing an unearned run and striking out three in three innings. Clevelan Santeliz walked two batters in the ninth, but did not allow a hit.
The Intimidators and Grasshoppers finish up the first half of the season Sunday evening at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium on Father's Day. With a win, Kannapolis can earn a series split. Game time is set for 7:05 pm.
