Captains Stung by Bees 4-1

Lake County Captains News Release


(Burlington, IA) - The Lake County Captains fell to the Burlington Bees by a final of 4-1 on Saturday Night. Burlington scored three runs in the seventh inning highlighted by a RBI single by Pedro Toribio. The three run spread proved to be the difference in the loss.

Burlington scored first. In the bottom of the fourth inning, Sherman Johnson reached on an error and scored on a double by Wade Hinkle. The error was one of four the Captains made on the night. Lake County tied the game on a two out single by Logan Vick in the top of the sixth inning. The score was tied at 1-1. That set the stage for the seventh.

Dylan Baker (0-2) did not get the decision for Lake County. Baker pitched six innings and allowed one unearned run on five hits. He walked just one and struck out seven. Michael Peoples got the loss. Peoples (1-1) pitched just one third of an inning and allowed two hits, three runs and walked two. Nick Pasquale and Jack Wagoner pitched the final inning and a third of scoreless baseball.

Alex Keudell (3-1) got the win for the Bees. Kuedell pitched a season high eight innings and struck out a season high eight hitters. He allowed one earned run and six hits. Jario Diaz pitched a scoreless ninth inning to earn his fifth save of the season.

The Captains will stay in Burlington for the second game and final game of the series on Friday afternoon. Lake County will start RHP Luis Dejesus (0-2, 4.95) and Burlington will counter with LHP Brandon Love (1-2, 5.40). First pitch is at 3:00 PM.
