
Captains Smack 15 Hits and Win 10-5

Lake County Captains News Release
(Fort Wayne, IN)- Mike Papi blasted a three run home run over the wall in right field wall as the Captains went on to beat Fort Wayne 10-5. Papi's homer capped a four run top of the third inning. The Captains hit three home runs on the night. Lake County and Fort Wayne will play a rubber game on Sunday.
Lake County took the early lead in the bottom of the second inning. Sicnarf Loopstok blasted his first home run as a Captain and the score was 1-0. Brian Ruiz promptly followed with his second homer of the season and the back-to-back homers made it 2-0 Lake County.
With the score 6-0, Lake County added a pair of runs. In the bottom of the fourth inning, Paul Hendrix doubled and Nellie Rodriguez singled home Hendrix and the score was 7-0. Rodriguez scored on a fielder's choice and the score was 8-0 Lake County headed to the bottom of the fourth inning.
Ronnie Richardson smacked his third homer of the season, the solo shot got Fort Wayne on the board and the score was 8-1 Lake County. The Captains added another pair of runs in the top of the sixth inning and the score was 10-1 Captains. Fort Wayne added a run on a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the sixth and the score was 10-2.
Fort Wayne added three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning. The TinCaps used two hits, a hit batter, two wild pitches, and a sacrifice fly to plate the three runs. The score was 10-5 headed to the ninth.
LHP Luis Lugo (7-9) took the mound for Lake County. Lugo earned the win after pitching five and two thirds innings. Lugo allowed two earned runs, three hits one walk and five strikeouts. Carlos Melo pitched one and one third inning he walked two and fanned two. Alexis Paredes pitched one and two thirds innings and allowed three earned runs. Trevor Frank pitched one third of an inning to earn his 14th save of the season. Frank earned the save because the tying run was on deck.
LHP Jeffery Enloe (4-5) started the game for the TinCaps and took the loss. Enloe pitched two and two thirds innings and allowed eight hits, six runs, five earned runs and two walks. Fort Wayne used three pitchers in relief to finish off the ballgame for the TinCaps.
Lake County will continue a six-game road trip on Sunday. The Captains will play the finale of a three-game series with Fort Wayne. Lake County will give the ball to RHP Mitch Brown (5-8, 3.65) and the TinCaps will counter with RHP Ronald Herrera (6-7, 3.81). First Pitch will be at 3:05 PM from Parkview Field in Fort Wayne, IN.
