SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The South Bend Silver Hawks (30-24, 70-52) overcame a five-error game to pick up a 5-1 win over the Lansing Lugnuts (24-30, 56-67) on Saturday night at Four Winds Field.

The loss brought an end to Lansing's three-game winning streak.

First baseman Marty Herum hit an RBI triple in the second inning to give the Silver Hawks an early 1-0 lead.

South Bend notched five hits in a three-run fifth inning against starting pitcher Jeremy Gabryszwski (Loss, 6-4), including a two-run inside-the-park home run by designated hitter Andrew Velazquez to take a 4-0 lead.

Lansing cracked the scoreboard in the seventh when catcher Daniel Klein reached on an error against South Bend shortstop Joe Munoz, allowing David Harris to score from third.

South Bend starter Brent Jones (Win, 3-2) tossed five scoreless innings, surrendering three hits and a walk with seven strikeouts.

With a pair of Lugnuts on base, South Bend closer Silvino Bracho (Save, 23) struck out Justin Atkinson to end the game.

After striking out 11 times on Friday night, South Bend pitchers sat down 12 Lugnuts on strikes on Saturday, including the final six outs of the game.

The Lugs and Silver Hawks play the rubber match of the three-game set on Sunday afternoon at Four Winds Field. Right-hander Starlyn Suriel (1-2, 2.66) starts for Lansing, with righty Sean Furney (7-6, 3.86).

The Lugnuts return to Cooley Law School Stadium on a Labatt Thirsty Thursday, August 21st, with $2 beers, $2 sodas, craft beer specials and a postgame concert featuring Starfarm. Gametime against the South Bend Silver Hawks is 7:05 p.m.
