
Captains Rout Error Plagued BlueClaws 12-1

Lake County Captains News Release
(Lakewood, NJ) - Adam White and Roman Pena each drove in three runs and Ryan Morris pitched five shutout innings on his way to his second straight victory as the Lake County Captains defeated the Lakewood BlueClaws on Wednesday 12-1. The Captains also benefited from six Lakewood errors, five of which were committed in the third inning when the Captains scored five unearned runs.
The Captains started out quick by scoring two runs in the first inning off of starter Jacob Diekman. After Lucas Montero reached on an error and Mark Thompson walked, Karexon Sanchez sacrifice bunted the runners to second and third. Roman Pena followed with a two RBI single to put the Captains up 2-0. The Captains scored five more runs in the third inning to make it 7-0. All the runs were unearned as the BlueClaws committed five errors, giving them six on the night which is two short of a club record. The Captains ended Diekman's night by scoring four more runs in the fifth inning with Jansy Infante and Montero getting RBI hits and Adam White with a two RBI triple. The Captains continued their offense against BlueClaws reliever Christopher Kissock in the sixth inning. Sanchez led off the sixth with a double and scored on Matt Brown RBI groundout. Brown also had three hits on the night.
Captains starter Ryan Morris was solid again going five innings without allowing a run. He surrendered only two hits, walked one and struck out four. Gary Campfield relieved Morris in the sixth inning and pitched two scoreless innings of his own giving up one hit and striking out three. Dallas Cawiezell pitched a scoreless eighth inning. The shutout was lost in the ninth inning when Matt Rizzotti doubled home the BlueClaws only run off of reliever Vinnie Pestano.
The Captains wrap up the brief two game road trip to Lakewood on Thursday morning at 11:05 AM. The Captains send RHP Chris Archer (0-1, 0.96) to the mound versus Lakewood's RHP Chance Chapman (0-0, 3.86). The games can be heard on AM 1330 WELW, WELW.COM or CAPTAINSBASEBALL.COM. The Captains return home on Friday for a three game weekend series against the Hagerstown Suns, the class A affiliate of the Washington Nationals. The promotion this Friday is Frost Bite Night, where all fans receive a free ticket to a future game if the temperature falls below 40 degrees. This Sunday is a Plevin & Gallucci Family Fun Day, featuring pre-game autographs and concourse entertainment. Plus, Kids Run the Bases (post-game) presented by Andrews Osborne Academy.
