
Castillo quiets Gnats for seven, Riverdogs win 6-5

SAVANNAH, Ga. - RHP Noel Castillo pitched his longest outing of the season, allowing 3 runs in 7.0 innings as the RiverDogs won 6-5 Wednesday night at Historic Grayson Stadium.
Savannah scored two runs in the ninth and had the winning run at the plate with two outs against Charleston closer Jonathan Ortiz. Charleston prevailed though, as Daniel Stegall struck out with Darren Clark on first to end the game.
Justin Snyder had a double and a triple to pace the RiverDogs who took advantage of a pair of walks from Scott Moviel in the third to take a 3-0 lead. Charleston utilized 6 walks from Savannah to win their ninth straight game and fifth straight against the Gnats.
Castillo (2-0) allowed 6 hits, walked none and struck out 3 to earn his second win in a week against Savannah. Moviel (1-2) struck out 5 but walked 3 as he allowed 4 runs (3 earned) on 4 hits in 3.1 innings.
Francisco Pena put Savannah on the board in the fourth when he doubled home Jordan Abruzzo and Jose Jimenez to make it 4-2. Greg Veloz added two hits and scored twice for the Gnats.
These same teams meet again at 7 p.m. Thursday to close the mini two-game series. Savannah sends RHP Elvin Ramirez (1-1, 5.87) to the hill against Charleston's RHP Adam Olbrychowski (0-1, 5.40).
