
Sand Gnats to Honor Lou Brissie with Two-Night Event

SAVANNAH, Ga. - The Savannah Sand Gnats will honor former Savannah Indians pitcher Lou Brissie on April 28 and 29. The Gnats will hold a banquet dinner in Brissie's name on April 28 and then retire his jersey prior to their game with the Hickory Crawdads on April 29.
The banquet dinner will be held at the riverfront Marriott at 6 p.m. on Monday, April 28. Registration for the banquet dinner is $50, which includes dinner, a ticket to the game on April 29, a replica Lou Brissie jersey T-shirt and a Lou Brissie Figurine. On Tuesday, April 29, the Sand Gnats will retire Brissie's No. 3 jersey in a pregame ceremony on the field at Historic Grayson Stadium. The No. 3 jersey is the first jersey to be retired in Savannah baseball history. The first 1,000 fans through the gates on Tuesday, April 29 will receive a replica Lou Brissie jersey T-shirt, courtesy of the Philadelphia Athletics Historical Society.
The Gnats resume their six-game homestand tonight with game one of a two-game set with the Charleston RiverDogs. Toeing the rubber for Savannah will be RHP Scott Moviel (1-1, 8.53), who is looking to regain the form he showed during his first start versus Columbus. Charleston counters with RHP Noel Castillo (2-0, 0.93). First pitch is slated for 7 p.m.
Wednesday will also be the first Food Lion MVP Wednesday of 2008. Fans who show their Food Lion MVP Rewards card at the gate will receive half off a general admission ticket.
