Lake County Captains News Release

(EASTLAKE, OH) - The Lake County Captains, Class A Affiliate of the Cleveland Indians, announced today that Brad Seymour has been named the organization's Vice President & General Manager beginning with the 2009 season. Seymour, who has worked with Peter A., Rita and Pete Carfagna, who along with Ray and Katie Murphy are the majority owners of the Captains, during three of his five years as General Manager of the Lancaster (CA) JetHawks, signed a four-year contract with the Captains organization and will join the club full-time in late September. The Carfagna Family is primary owners of the Captains, JetHawks and Everett (WA) Aquasox.

Seymour, a Morgan Hill, California native, has been working as a consultant for the Captains during the 2008 season, his 14th in professional baseball. He takes the helm in Lake County from Kevin Brodzinski, who will be entering his seventh season with the Captains in 2009 and has spent the last three seasons as the club's General Manager, when the Captains saw its two millionth fan enter Classic Park, a re-vamped concessions operation and the creation of the Captains Walk of Fame. In 2006, Brodzinski also hosted the South Atlantic All-Star Game on behalf of the organization, which attracted a record crowd of 7,017. Brodzinski has been named Director of Ticket Sales for the organization where he will oversee all full and partial season ticket packages, group sales, and individual ticket sales for the company.

"I have thoroughly enjoyed my last three seasons as GM of one of the best minor league baseball operations in the country," Brodzinski said. "I requested a reduced role heading into 2009 in order to be able to spend more quality time with my family, given the recent birth of my second son. I'm excited to be stepping into an integral role for next season, and remaining a part of the Captains family."

Seymour has served as General Manager in Lancaster, the Class A California League affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, since 2004 and prior to his current role, he was General Manager of the Sioux Falls (SD) Canaries of the independent Northern League from 2002 - 2003. He spent nine seasons in Sioux Falls, beginning as an intern and working his way through the organization in several capacities before being named the club's General Manager.

During his time with the JetHawks, Seymour has successfully grown the organization's brand throughout the Lancaster community, including the sale of a ten-year stadium naming rights agreement prior to the 2005 season, an arrangement that is the highest grossing naming rights agreement in California League history. He also assisted in a re-negotiation of the stadium lease with the City of Lancaster and negotiated the first major capital improvement project made to the club's stadium as he guided the successful installation and sale of naming rights to a state-of-the-art video board at the facility prior to the 2006 season.

With the introduction of many new promotions and events, the JetHawks have achieved growth throughout Seymour's tenure with the organization, posting increases in attendance and revenues. The club has become nationally known for its unique promotions and theme nights, including its annual Aerospace Appreciation Night which has honored such legends as Buzz Aldrin and Chuck Yeager, and promotional giveaways that include full-size skateboards, which was named "Best Giveaway In Minor League Baseball" earlier this year. In addition, Seymour also oversaw the successful re-branding of the JetHawks team identity prior to the 2008 season, introducing new primary and secondary logos and a new color scheme for the organization.
