Augusta, GA - The Augusta GreenJackets (41-28, 28-15) could not complete the four game sweep of the Savannah Sand Gnats (33-37, 20-22) Tuesday night falling 4-0. Starter Scott Barnes suffered the loss and Augusta was held to just four hits.
Savannah scored the only run they needed in the first inning on a two-out RBI single from Nick Giarraputo scoring Greg Veloz. Veloz began the game with a walk then moved to third base on a base hit by Francisco Pena with one out.
Barnes (0-1) worked four innings and allowed one run on four hits in his home debut. The lefty walked one and struck out five in his second start of the season with Augusta.
Savannah added two more runs in the seventh inning off of Augusta reliever David Mixon. The Sand Gnats first run in the frame came on an RBI single from Veloz scoring B.J. Hubbert. Veloz moved up to third when he stole second and the throw from catcher Nestor Rojas was wide and into centerfield. Rojas was then charged with a passed ball that allowed Veloz to score to make it 3-0.

Augusta left six runners on base with three in scoring position.
Savannah starter Brent Rustich (3-4) worked five shutout innings and retired the first 11 batters in a row before Juan Ciriaco connected for a two-out single in the fourth inning.
