Hagerstown Suns News Release

KANNAPOLIS, NC - The Hagerstown Suns (19-25) lost the final game of a four-game series with the Kannapolis Intimidators (20-21) 10-3, with nine of the runs coming in two big innings for the home team.

The Suns trailed 1-0 going into the bottom of the fifth inning before the Intimidators struck for five runs, all earned, against Terrence Engles. Engles (3-4) allowed five hits in the inning including a two-run home run by Christian Marrero to make the score 6-1.

Engles took the loss as he lasted four and two thirds innings, allowed six runs, five earned, and seven hits while striking out two.

Hagerstown's offense did not get going until the top of the sixth inning, as singles by Robert Jacobsen and Jose Lozada were followed by a three-run home run by Tim Pahuta, his 14th of the season.

Chris Lugo replaced Engles and was very effective in his two and one third innings of work. The Hoboken, NJ native did not allow a base runner and struck out four batters, keeping the Suns in the game.

However, the Intimidators put the game out of reach in the bottom of the eighth as the home team sent nine hitters to the plate and scored four times on three hits against reliever Justin Phillabaum.

The Suns will now return to Hagerstown to face the Lakewood BlueClaws in a four-game series. Game one will start at 7:05 p.m. on Wednesday, August 6th. Gates will open at Municipal Stadium at 6:05.

The Hagerstown Suns play at Municipal Stadium in Hagerstown, MD and are a Class "A" affiliate of the Washington Nationals.
