
Captains Fall 7-6 to the Lugnuts

Lake County Captains News Release
(Eastlake, OH)- A ground ball hit Garis Pena to the shortstop Ronny Rodriguez was misplayed scoring Bryson Namba in the eighth inning, as Lansing rallied back for a 7-6 win over Lake County.
Lansing took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning; Marcus Knecht drove in his 45th run of the season with a sacrifice fly to left.
Garis Pena led the third inning off with a double for the Lugnuts and came around and scored following an error and a wild pitch to make it 2-0.
Lake County took a 3-2 lead in the fourth. Giovanny Urshela doubled and scored following a Sean Nolin throwing error on a ball hit by Jordan Casas. Kevin Fontanez in his Captains debut, singled in Casas to tie the game up at two. Fontanez scored on a LeVon Washington RBI ground out.
In the fifth inning, Jake Marisnick connected on his seventh homerun of the season, a two run shot giving Lansing the lead back at 4-3.
The Captains' Carlos Moncrief led the seventh inning off with a triple to centerfield. Alex Monsalve doubled to center, scoring Moncrief and trying the game up at four. Monsalve came around and scored on a fielding error on Matt Nuzzo. Giovanny Urshela would score on a Pena throwing error giving Lake County a 6-4 lead.
The Lugnuts lead the eighth inning off with a single by Knecht and moved to second on a wild pitch. A two out base hit by Lance Durham cut the lead in half. Bryson Namba tripled to left center scoring Durham to tie the game at six.
Brandon Berl (2-0) picked up the win despite allowing three runs, one earned on two hits, walking one and striking out three in just 1.2 innings. Dayton Marze pitched the final two innings for his fourth save of the season. Nick Sarianides (4-4) suffered the loss, allowing three runs, two earned on three hits, no walks and three strike outs in 1.2 innings of work.
Lake County and Lansing will continue their three game set on Sunday night at 7:00PM at Classic Park. Making the start for the Captains will be LHP Mike Rayl (5-2) against LHP Egan Smith (3-3) for the Lugnuts. Catch all the action on ESPN 970 AM WFUN or online at captainsbaseball.com.
