Shreveport-Bossier Captains News Release
SHREVEPORT, LA -The Shreveport-Bossier Captains, presented by U-Auto Pull-It Auto Parts, announced today they have formed a partnership with the Bossier Council on Aging in effort to provide some much needed relief for the seniors of Bossier Parish, who have been impacted by record heat this summer.
Since 1975, Bossier Council on Aging has provided services to seniors (over 60), of Bossier Parish that allow them to remain independent and to remain active in our communities. These seniors are a vital part of our extended family and provide a great deal of what is really the council-caring and loving. The mission of Bossier Council on Aging (BCOA) is to provide services to the senior citizens of Bossier Parish that will enhance their quality of life and enable them to live independently and with dignity. The BCOA is a non-profit organization funded by federal, state, and local governments as well as donations and contributions. We have been providing services to Bossier Parish seniors for over 30 years.
As part of their "Build a Better Community" focus, the Shreveport-Bossier Captains are joining hands with the Bossier Council on Aging Wednesday, August 10 by hosting a "Fan Drive" to generate fan donation from the community to aid in relief from the sweltering summer temperatures. Residents who donate a standard box fan, table oscillating fan and/or cash (for fan purchases), will receive a free reserved ticket to a future regular season Captains' home game, courtesy of the Shreveport-Bossier Captains.
"The Captains have a very loyal senior fan-base who have supported the organization very strongly", Captains general manager Chet Carey said. "Professional baseball isn't just about baseball, it's about helping to make the community better whether just by providing affordable family entertainment or by utilizing the stadium to generate donations to help provide relief to those in dire need".
The Captains are currently in game two of a three-game road trip in El Paso Texas but return home this Friday for a six-game home stand against the Amarillo Sox and Fort Worth Cats. Single-game tickets are available for purchase in-person or over the phone by visiting the Captains Executive Offices at 2901 Pershing Boulevard at Fair Grounds Field or by calling (318) 636-5555. VISA, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express accepted.
