Eastlake, OH (May 24, 2009) - The Lake County Captains snapped West Virginia's three game losing streak on Sunday afternoon at Classic Park on Chris Nash's game winning RBI single in the 10th inning as the Captains took the third game of the series 3-2.

The Captains scored the first two runs of the game. Karexon Sanchez scored in the bottom of the first inning on a two-out single from Donnie Webb. Walter Diaz began the fifth inning with a single and eventually scored on a wild pitch to give the Captains a 2-0 edge.

Jeremy Farrell ripped a two-out single to score West Virginia's first run of the game in the bottom of the seventh. The Power had a chance to do more, but left the bases loaded. In the eighth, with runners on second and third and nobody out, David Roberts struck out Robbie Grossman, Chase D'Arnaud and Calvin Anderson to maintain the 2-1 lead. Farrell struck again for the Power in the ninth inning with a solo homer to tie the game, it was his third of the season.

Lake County left the potential winning run stranded in scoring position in the ninth before they won it in the tenth. Abner Abreu began the tenth inning with a base hit and moved to third on Adam Abraham's sacrifice bunt. Nash singled him in on the first pitch of the next at bat to win it.

Steve Smith (2-2) allowed a run on a hit over two innings of relief and got the victory, while Wilson Oritz (0-2) suffered the loss after allowing a run on three hits over an inning and two-thirds. Ortiz, Duke Welker and Ramon Aguero combined to fan 12 Captains' batters, establishing a new season high.

West Virginia fell to 16-27 after the loss, and the Captains improved to 19-23 with the win. Grossman and Farrell both had two hits for the Power. Grossman is 7-for-14 in the series with three runs and five RBI, and he's reached safely in his last ten games. West Virginia is now 1-2 in extra inning games and 5-7 in games decided by a run.

West Virginia will finish the four game series with the Lake County Captains at Classic Park in Eastlake, Ohio on Monday afternoon. Left hander Rudy Owens (4-1, 3.19) will start for the Power and the Captains will counter with right hander Danny Salazar (1-1, 6.43). The first pitch is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
