West Michigan Whitecaps News Release

The West Michigan Whitecaps made it interesting in their last at-bat on Tuesday night but it couldn't keep them from dropping their second straight game in Ohio. The Dayton Dragons edged the Whitecaps, 2-1, to take a two games to one lead over the 'Caps in the four-game series.

The Dragons scored single runs in third and sixth innings off of 'Caps starter Matt Pender who was eventually saddled with his first loss of the season.

The Whitecaps were shackled by Dayton starter Juan Frias, who blanked them on just four singles through the first eight innings. Designated hitter Jason Knoedler (ka-NAYD-ler) homered off a Dayton reliever leading off the ninth but that was the only run the 'Caps could muster.

The Whitecaps and Dragons will conclude their series on Wednesday night at 7:00 Michigan time. Following Wednesday's game, the 'Caps head to Beloit, Wisconsin, for four games with the Beloit Snappers starting on Thursday night.
