Lansing Lugnuts News Release
The first month of the season is complete and Lugnut fans have a great May to look forward to as Lansing plays 16 games at home this month! The Lugnuts play host to Wisconsin and Burlington May 5-12, Eastern Division rival Dayton May 22-25 and defending league champion Peoria May 26-29. The Peoria series is a rematch of the 2002 Midwest League Championship Series and is the first crack Lansing has at Peoria in 2003. The first homestand with Wisconsin and Burlington is highlighted by the two Grand Slam School Days on May 6 and May 7. Both games start bright and early at 10:35 a.m. and will feature schools from across the state of Michigan in attendance!! Myron Noodleman will make his annual voyage to Olds Park on May 9th and a LAFCU Fireworks Series show on May 10th will light up the skies once again over Olds Park. It is not too late to grab your tickets for these homestands or for any remaining regular season home game on the Lugnuts schedule! Lugnut fans that had tickets to any of the first seven home games of the year that were cancelled due to nasty weather can turn those tickets for another game on the schedule as well, so if you missed out on that first homestand and still have your tickets, turn them in at the Lugnut box office. Box office hours are M-F from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and 10:00 a.m. until the middle of the sixth inning on game days!

Meet the Lugnuts: Felix Pie
His last name is spelled like the dessert you sometimes like to have and his game is just as sweet! He's Lugnuts outfielder Felix Pie(p-AY). Just 18 years old, he was named the top prospect in the Arizona League last season by Baseball America, earned league co-Most Valuable Player honors with current Lugnut teammate Matt Creighton and was named to the league's postseason all-star team!! Felix was born and raised in the Dominican Republic in the city of La Romana. Signed by the Cubs as a free agent in 2001, Pie was shining shoes the day he was signed at a tryout in the Dominican and was signed by the same scout that signed former Lugnut and current Cub Juan Cruz. A lifetime .314 minor league hitter coming into this season, Felix has been one of the offensive leaders so far in 2003 for Lansing. Felix Pie. Just another one of the names you need to know this summer at Oldsmobile Park!
