Capitals Re-Assign Liam O'Brien to Hershey

ARLINGTON, Va. - The Washington Capitals have re-assigned forward Liam O'Brien to the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League (AHL), senior vice president and general manager Brian MacLellan announced today.

O'Brien, 20, registered two points (one goal, one assist) in 13 games with the Capitals this season. The 6'1", 210-pound forward signed with Washington as a free agent on Oct. 6 and made his NHL debut on Oct. 9 against Montreal. O'Brien earned his first NHL point on Oct. 14 against San Jose and scored his first NHL goal on Oct. 26 at Vancouver.

O'Brien registered 35 points (20 goals, 15 assists) and 148 penalty minutes in 68 games with the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) during the 2013-14 season. The Halifax, Nova Scotia, native finished the season ranked first among Huskies skaters in penalty minutes, third in goals, sixth in points, tied for ninth on the team in assists and 10th in the QMJHL in penalty minutes. In 261 career QMJHL games with Rouyn-Noranda and Rimouski, O'Brien registered 95 points (42 goals. 53 assists) and 493 penalty minutes.
