Capitals Re-Assign Connor Carrick to Hershey

ARLINGTON, Va. - The Washington Capitals have re-assigned defenseman Connor Carrick to the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League (AHL), senior vice president and general manager Brian MacLellan announced today.

Carrick, 21, has registered six points (one goal, five assists) and 23 penalty minutes in 34 career NHL games with Washington. The 5'11", 194-pound defenseman made his NHL debut on Oct. 1, 2013 at Chicago and scored his first NHL goal on Oct. 3, 2013 against Calgary. Carrick was drafted by the Capitals in the fifth round, 137th overall, in the 2012 NHL Draft.

Carrick has recorded 15 points (eight goals, seven assists) and 32 penalty minutes in 26 games with Hershey (AHL) this season. The Orland, Park, Ill., native ranks second among AHL defensemen in goals this season and ranks second among Bears skaters in points, tied for second in plus/minus (+5) and third in goals. He has scored five goals in his last six games (12/4-12/13: five goals, two assists) and is the only AHL defenseman to record a shootout-winning goal this season. In 112 career AHL games with Hershey, Carrick has tallied 61 points (16 goals, 45 assists) and 179 penalty minutes.
