December 22, 2015 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Albany Devils News Release
ALBANY, NY - The Times Union Centers' new security protocol will be in place for the Albany Devils game against the Providence Bruins Saturday. Fans are encouraged to arrive early to allow enough time to clear security before entering the building for the 5 pm puck drop. Â
As of December 12, SMG in conjunction with Albany County and with the full collaboration from the Albany Police Department and the Albany County Sheriff's office, adopted the following security procedures for ALL events at Times Union Center:Â
- Walk-Âthrough metal detectors will be used at all entrances of the facility. Similar to procedures used at the airport, all patrons will walk through a metal detector prior to gaining access to the arena. If needed, security will perform pat downs on patrons in addition to the metal detectors.
- Bags that are larger than 13 5/8" x 15 1'Ââ4" will not be permitted thru the security zone.
While cameras are not permitted at most Times Union Center events, the Albany Devils have made an exception for their games. Â
"After speaking with Times Union Center management and security, we have decided to allow our fans to continue to use cameras at our home games," said Albany Devils CEO Christopher Ciceri. "We feel reassured the arena's new protocol along with appropriate bag searches will keep our fans, staff and team protected. Are hope is our fans can continue to express their passion for photography within the safest environment possible." Â
The metal detectors will be located outside the arena entrances, and will be clear of all doors. An Albany Police Officer will be located between the screening areas and the doorways for observation and protection.Â
