ARLINGTON, Va., - The Washington Capitals have claimed forward Chris Bourque off waivers from the Pittsburgh Penguins and assigned him to the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League (AHL), vice president and general manager George McPhee announced today.
Bourque returns to the Washington organization after recording three assists in 20 games this season for the Penguins, who claimed the 23-year-old off waivers from the Capitals on Sept. 30.
The 5'10", 177-pound native of Boston, Mass., was the Capitals' second-round choice, 33rd overall, in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft and has scored one goal in 12 career games with Washington. Last year, he recorded 21 goals and 52 assists in 69 games to finish third in the Hershey scoring race with 73 points. Bourque tallied five goals and 16 assists in 22 playoff games, as Hershey won their AHL record 10th Calder Cup.
