Binghamton Senators News Release
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The B-Sens traveled one hour up 81-north to take on the Syracuse Crunch for the second time in as many nights.
Following a scoreless first period, the Crunch struck first on the power play. Syracuse's Dan Fritsche took advantage of an unsettled situation in the B-Sens' zone and beat Chris Holt high on the glove side for the 1-0 Crunch lead.
Binghamton rebounded at the 16:49 mark. Defenseman Derek Smith hit Josh Hennessy with a pass. Hennessy then clanged a shot off the far post, which Kaspars Daugavins would tip into the Crunch net putting Binghamton on the board. The tie would be short lived though. Just over two minutes later Syracuse's Nick Holden would beat a screened Holt with a shot from the blue line to put the Crunch back in the lead 2-1.
The Crunch added insurance at 9:28. On the power play, Grant Clitsome hit Alexandre Picard in front of the net. Picard couldn't beat Holt, but Jared Aulin could as he crammed the rebound into the cage, giving the Crunch a 3-1 lead.
Rookie B-Sen Brandon Svendsen tallied his first goal of the season with less than two minutes remaining in the game to bring the Senators back to within one score. That would be all the scoring the B-Sens could muster though as they leave Syracuse with a 3-2 loss.
The B-Sens travel south to the Wachovia Arena at Casey Plaza next Friday to take on the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
