Edmonton Capitals News Release
Capitals Say Aloha To Maui
The Edmonton Capitals won their first home series of the season winning three of five against visiting Maui Na Koa Ikaika. The Caps started off with an impressive rally and come from behind win in the bottom of the ninth in the home opener in front of over 3,000 fans. The rain came over the next couple of nights causing one of the games to be suspended and in the end, the two teams split the next two games. The other two Capital wins were 6 - 1 and and 12 - 6. Bryan Hall Luau night was a big hit with Edmonton's own Larry Marushy taking home the grand prize giveaway of a trip for two to Maui to watch the Caps play later this season. The first Safeway Fireworks Friday was a huge success on and off the field with the big win and spectacular post-game show. The series finale was a close shave at the end on Salute To Baldness Night followed by the first EZ Rock Saturday Night Movie - Shrek.

Immediately following the series with Maui, Capitals Field Manager Brent Bowers got to work on a couple of transactions to mix up the roster a bit. The Caps dealt right fielder Tim Battle to the other clubhouse in exchange for Maui's Ryan Stevenson. The 31 year old native of San Leandro, California just walked across the Home Plate Club to join his new team. Rookie Alex Chavez was also re-activated off the injured reserved which means the emergency call-up stint for Edmonton native and Open Tryout walk-on Gary Bayrack comes to an end. The Caps also dealt big guy A.C. Grable III to Florence of the Frontier League for future considerations.
