Toros Edge Outlaws 3-2 In Chico

The Tucson Toros moved into sole possession of second place in the GBL Southern Division with a 3-2 victory over the Chico Outlaws on Tuesday. The win moved Tucson's season record above .500 to 9-8.

Tucson's pitching staff did not allow an earned run during the game, with both runs Chico's runs deemed unearned due to 4 Toros errors. Starter Vince Davis threw 7 innings, scattering 8 hits to allow just 1 unearned run to improved to 2-1. Emiliano Fruto closed out the 1-run game to earn his third save of the season.

On the offensive side of things Shortstop Ryan Priddy remained hot with two more hits, an RBI and run scored. Priddy has now hit safely in seven straight games, with multiple hits in five of those contests to raise his batting average to .381. Second Baseman Jose Valdez also had a pair of hits, including the team's only extra-base hit with his second double of the season.

The win was the third in a row for Tucson, who moved just 3.5 games behind the Yuma Scorpions in the Southern Division.

The Toros and Outlaws will play the second game of the three game series in Chico on Wednesday. Tucson's next homestand will begin with a Fireworks Friday on June 11th.
