Canucks Recall Matt Pettinger

The Vancouver Canucks today announced they have recalled forward Matt Pettinger from the Manitoba Moose.

Pettinger, 29, has appeared in 54 games so far this season with the Moose. In that span, he scored 30 points (14g & 16a) to move into sixth on Moose team scoring. The Edmonton, AB native was signed to an NHL contract by the Canucks on Nov. 2/09 and then played in seven games, scoring two points (1g & 1a) and two penalty minutes. In two games last season with the Moose after being re-assigned by Vancouver on Oct. 8/08, Pettinger scored two goals. In his nine-year pro career, Pettinger has played in 420 NHL games with Tampa Bay, Vancouver and the Washington Capitals where he's scored 122 points (65g & 57a) and 206 penalty minutes. In 198 career AHL games with the Portland Pirates and Moose, Pettinger has 102 points (53g & 49a) and 219 penalty minutes.

He was originally drafted by the Capitals in the second round, 43rd overall, in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.
