Canaries take part in Lunch With David Friday

Sioux Falls, SD - The Sioux Falls Canaries and local musician Steve Martini are teaming up with Downtown Sioux Falls for the annual Lunch With David event at the Statue of David in Faywick Park on Friday, June 2, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The event is a Sioux Falls tradition that allows local downtown business to get together and enjoy the beginning of summer.
This year's event will feature the first annual DTSF Whiffle Home Run Derby. Canaries pitching coach and pitcher Rich Hyde will be serving up pitches to Sioux Falls Mayor Dave Munson and many local CEOs and business owners.
"I am very excited to be involved in such a great downtown Sioux Falls event," said Canaries General Manager Matt Hansen. "I look forward to seeing how Rich Hyde fares against Mayor Munson."
The Canaries will provide a meet and greet autograph session with players and coaches. The team's front office will be on hand to sample their wacky on-field promotions for fans to get a chance to challenge their co-workers.
The lunch will include hot dogs, chips, and soda. Tickets for the lunch are just $1 per person and can be ordered by contacting Main Street at 338-4009.
The celebration of summer will continue at the Birdcage on Friday night. The Canaries will be offering a special Lunch With David Ticket Package on Friday afternoon. Anyone who attends the event can purchase a package for Friday night's game that includes a reserved grandstand ticket with a voucher for a hot dog and a small soda. The ticket package is just $7.
Bird Seeds: The Canaries have acquired SS Angelo Fermin from the North Shore Spirit of the Canadian-American League for a player to be named later.
