Sioux Falls, SD - The Sioux Falls Canaries (13-10) saw their seven-game home-winning streak snapped as the Lincoln Saltdogs (11-11) avoided a four-game sweep with a 12-4 win over the Birds.

The Saltdogs got out to the lead in the first inning. Jonny Kaplan drew a lead-off walk and stole second base. After advancing to third on a groundout, Kaplan scored on a double by Dustin Yount. After a half-inning the Saltdogs were in front a run, 1-0.

In the bottom of the second, the Canaries took their only lead of the game. Grant Richardson singled and Paul Smyth hit a two-run homer. Smyth's second home run of the season to give the Canaries a 2-1 lead.

The lead was short-lived as Lincoln went in front to stay in the top of the third. With two on and two out, Mario Delgado hit a three-run home run to put the Saltdogs ahead, 4-2. Lincoln scored a total of seven runs on six hits and three walks in the third inning. The offensive barrage put the Saltdogs ahead, 7-2.

The Birds battled out a couple more runs, but Saltdogs homers by Luis Perez and Ross McCoy helped distance Lincoln from the Canaries in the 12-4 final.

Kevin Cheppenko (0-3) lasted just three innings in the loss. Brian Campbell (2-2) picked up the win with seven innings of work.

The Canaries will welcome the Wichita Wingnuts to town on Tuesday night. Tuesday's promotion will be a Salute to Crazy Horse and Top Ticket or Turkey Tuesday presented by Dakota Provision.
