Sioux Falls Canaries News Release

SIOUX FALLS, SD (June 2, 2008) - The Sioux Falls Canaries and Wireless World are teaming up for an unprecedented marathon of baseball that will feature games on the field at Sioux Falls Stadium for 48 straight hours from 7 p.m. on Friday, July 18 until the stroke of 7 p.m. on Sunday, July 21. The entire baseball marathon will be broadcast by Sioux Falls Canaries broadcaster Matt Meola.

"You can't broadcast for 48 hours without a reliable network to carry your signal," said Meola. "Thanks to Jill Solberg and Wireless World our signal will be carried by the Verizon Wireless Network. Listeners from around the world will be able to Hear Me Now for two straight days of baseball."

The 48 Hours of Baseball will feature three American Association baseball games between the Sioux Falls Canaries and Grand Prairie AirHogs, as well as 14 other games featuring teams from around the Sioux Empire.

"We will have amateur adult teams playing through the night and youth teams playing throughout the day," said Meola. "The Canaries and Wireless World will be serving baseball around the clock at the Birdcage."

The Canaries and Wireless World will bring Sioux Falls Stadium to life with more than just baseball for the 48 Hours of Baseball Weekend. In line with the Canaries "Fun Is Good" mentality, the ballpark will be brought to life with entertainment to compliment the baseball. The additional weekend entertainment will include live bands, video games tournaments, and additional Canaries fun around the clock.
