St. Joseph, MO - The Sioux Falls Canaries (7-16) lost a 15-inning marathon, 2-1, against the St. Joe Blacksnakes (7-17) on Tuesday Night at Phil Welch Stadium. The game winning hit was delivered by Jimmy Mojica to score Terrell Merriman with one out in the bottom of the fifteenth.

The Blacksnakes opened the scoring in the fourth inning. Back to back singles by Ben Thomas and Mark Burke put runners on the corners with one out. Canaries starter Tony Cogan struck out Wil Quintana for the second out. With Jake Whitesides at the plate, Burke got hung up between first and second. During the pickle, Thomas took home before the Canaries tagged out Burke to end the inning. After four innings, the Blacksnakes led 1-0.

The Canaries tied the game in the sixth inning. Chad Hermansen singled and Abner Arroyo followed with a double off the wall to score Hermansen and make it, 1-1.

The game remained tied until the bottom of the fifteenth inning. Merriman drew a leadoff walk and stole second base. Merriman advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by Jefferson Infante to set the stage for Mojica's heroic game-winning single.

Tony Cogan allowed just one run on three hits through seven innings in his first start for the Canaries since going on the disabled list May 19. Clint Marcus (1-1) suffered the loss for the Canaries and Matt Johnson (1-2) got the win for St. Joe.
