El Paso 8, Shreveport 1 (Game 1)

The Diablos posted two runs in the top of the first inning and never looked back, scoring four more in the fourth and adding two in the fifth, to triumph 8-1 over Shreveport. Dustin Cameron picked up his first win of the year, relieving starter Chris Trevino with two outs in the second inning and finishing out the last 5.1. Cameron allowed one run on three hits and struck out two. CF Kory Drew and 3B J.P. Schmidt each had three hits in the win. DH Braulio Castillo blasted his fifth home run of the year, a 2-run shot in the fifth inning to plate the last of the Diablos' eight runs on for the game.

El Paso 4, Shreveport 3 (Game 2)

Andy Torres pitched six solid innings for El Paso in Game 2, scattering nine hits and surrendering three runs while striking out two, to notch his first win of the year. Leading 4-1 in the fifth Shreveport threatened the lead with two runs in the bottom half of the inning to pull within one. With a man on first and two out 2B Neb Brown doubled to right center to drive in a run and the next batter, DH Chad Gambill followed with a single of his own to score Brown. That would be all the Sports could manage however in the game shortened to seven innings due to the double header. Reliever Joslin Ramirez came on in the seventh and got two ground balls and a flyout to record his first save of the season.

Pensacola 5, Fort Worth 0

Pensacola got seven shutout innings from their starting pitcher Clint Sodowsky to notch their 13th win of the season. Sodowsky allowed just three hits and struck out seven to improve his record to 3-1. Pelicans' C James Koehler hit a solo home run in the third inning, the first of his professional career, and SS Carlos Mendoza extended the Pensacola lead with a grand slam in the seventh, his first of the season. Mendoza and 1B Tim Dorn each had two hits for the Pelicans to lead the offense. Fort Worth SS Marc Mirizzi was 2-for-3 to lead the Cats in the losing effort.

Coastal Bend 6, Sioux City 3

Trailing 3-2 in the seventh inning, Coastal Bend got the tying run aboard thanks to a leadoff single from LF Brian Fryer. Fryer would later advance to second on a passed ball then to third with a stolen base before the Explorers could record an out. After Nunes surrendered a walk to the next batter, Fryer scored the game-tying run on a groundout by 3B Andy Wilson. The Aviators would score once more in that frame and add two more in the eighth to hand closer James Lira the ball in the ninth with a 3-run lead. Lira faced four hitters and struck out two en route to recording his league-leading ninth save. C Stephen Morales was 3-for-5 with two runs scored for Coastal Bend in the win.

St. Joe 3, Sioux Falls 1

The Blacksnakes shutout the Canaries through eight innings behind stellar performances by starter Evan Thomas, who got his second win of the season, and J.C. Huguet. The two combined to shutout Sioux Falls for eight frames and only allowed four hits. Jamie Tricoglou settled down to get his first save of the season in the ninth after walking the first two batters he faced. Despite the loss Canaries' starting pitcher Sean Donlin pitched extremely well, allowing three runs on four hits through eight innings. He struck out eight as well. Sioux Falls LF Chad Hermansen and C David Hoffman each had two hits in the losing effort.

St. Paul 9, Lincoln 7

HR: SP-Pat Scalabrini 2(2), Brian Sprout 2(3); LN-Cory Harris (4), Jose Torres (3).

St. Paul LF Brian Sprout was 5-for-5 with two home runs and four RBIs to help power the Saints past the first-place Saltdogs on the road. Saints' 2B Pat Scalabrini also hit two home runs and drove in three. The pair drove in seven of their team's nine runs. Saltdogs' RF Bryan Warner was 3-for-5, recording the first 3-hit game of his career and 1B Pichi Balet was 2-for-5, giving him 13 multi-hit games through the teams first 25 contests. C Kevin Sullivan was 1-for-4 for Lincoln, extending his hitting streak to 10 games, tied for the longest in the American Association this season. Lincoln had what looked like their 20th win when closer Jerrod Fuell came on to pitch the ninth. Fuell wasn't his usual self, though, allowing five runs on five hits in the ninth to suffer his only loss so far this season. Coming in, Fuell had six saves in 11 appearances and a 1.64 earned run average.
