St. Joseph, MO - Abner Arroyo, the American Association's Batter of the Week, left the game with an injured left ankle in the Canaries 3-1 loss to the St. Joe Blacksnakes on Wednesday night.
The Blacksnakes (8-17) scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Ben Thomas was hit by a pitch to start the inning and then advanced to second base on a wild pitch. Thomas would score on a double by Jake Whitesides for a 1-0 lead. Wil Quintana followed with a triple to score Whitesides making it 2-0. Jefferson Infante singled home Quintana for the 3-0 lead.
Arroyo was hurt in the sixth inning. As Arroyo grounded a ball to second base he immediately went to the ground in the batter's box. He would be helped off the field putting minimal weight on the ankle as he left the game.

Sean Donlin (0-2) was impressive in his first start of the season. He allowed three runs on four hits and one walk while striking out eight in eight innings pitched. Evan Thomas (2-3) picked up the win for the Blacksnakes. Jamie Tricoglou recorded his first save of the season.
The Canaries and Blacksnakes will finish up the three-game series on Thursday night. First pitch is at 7:05 p.m.
