
Canaries Get The 10-6 Victory Over Sioux City

Sioux Falls, SD- The Sioux City Explorers are still winless to start the season, falling to Sioux Falls with a score of 10-6. That gives the Canaries back-to-back ten run performances in the last two games vs Sioux City.
Sioux Falls got on the board first plating three runs in the first inning. Canaries first baseman David Bergin knocked in two runs with an RBI single. Bergin went on to score off an RBI double by Ethan Chapman, giving Sioux Falls the early 3-0 lead.
In the top half of the second, X's first baseman Jarek Cunningham led off the inning with a double, moved to third on a Tommy Mendonca single and later scored off a sac-fly RBI by X's shortstop Nate Samson.
The Canaries answered with their own run in the third inning, giving them the 4-1 lead after three innings of play.
Sioux City tied it in the fifth inning. The X's knocked in one run off an RBI single by Tim Colwell in the fourth inning. Explorers plated two big runs in the fifth inning to tie it at 4-4. A groundball hit too second by Noah Perio scored a runner from third, and a Tommy Mendonca RBI double knocked in the tying run at first base.
In the later innings, Sioux Falls out the game out of reach, scoring five runs in the seventh, and one run in the eighth, giving them back-to-back ten run games on the season.
The X's scored their final runs on a ninth inning two-run double by Nate Sampson, but would fall short with a final score of 10-6.
Canaries starter Madison Boer (0-0) wound up with a no decision, allowing four runs in five innings pitched. Right-hander Kris Regas (1-0) received the win for Sioux Falls, pitching a scoreless seventh inning.
X's starting right-hander Eddie Cody (0-0) finished with a no decision, giving up four runs in 4.1 innings pitched. Jacob Kuebler (0-1) was charged with the loss for Sioux City, allowing three runs (two earned) in two innings of relief.
