Fargo-Moorhead 2, Laredo 1
For the second night in a row, the matchup between the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks and Laredo Lemurs was decided by one run, but this time the RedHawks were victious by a 2-1 final. RedHawks' starter Richie Mirowski (pictured) earned the win for his excellent performance on the mound, giving up just one earned run in seven innings with eleven strikeouts. The bullpen was also excellent for Fargo-Moorhead as relievers Will Mathis along with Travis Ballew, who earned the save, pitched scoreless innings. For the Lemurs, starter Scott Garner provided Laredo with an excellent outing as he didn't allow an earned run in his 6.2 innings pitched.
Winnipeg 4, Joplin 3 (11 innings)
The Winnipeg Goldeyes and Joplin Blasters were tied 3-3 entering the 11th inning of play until Goldeyes' CF Reggie Abercrombie crossed the plate in the top half of the frame to give Winnipeg the 4-3 victory. Reliever Eric Sim notched the victory out of the bullpen as the Goldeyes used seven different pitchers in the game. For Joplin, 1B Jake Taylor and CF Zack Burling each had two hits.
Kansas City 8, Texas 3
Behind an excellent outing from starter Sean Furney, the Kansas City T-Bones defeated the Texas AirHogs 8-3. Furney was rewarded with the win on the mound, hurling six innings, allowing eight hits, three earned runs and five strikeouts. T-Bones' 1B Jake Blackwood, DH Anthony Gallas, and C Cole Leonida all had three hits in the contest. The AirHogs were led in the game by 2B Brian Bistagne who was 3-for-4.
St. Paul 6, Gary SouthShore 5
The St. Paul Saints held off a three run ninth inning Gary SouthShore RailCats' comeback to win their second game of the year by a final score of 6-5. After the RailCats scored one run in the top of the first inning, St. Paul quickly responded by scoring five in the bottom of the frame. St. Paul C Tony Caldwell went 2-for-4 at the plate with one run scored and an RBI. Saints' starter Robert Coe received the win throwing 5.2 innings, allowing two earned runs on five hits, while reliever Ryan Rodebaugh earned the save. The RailCats' offense, which outhit the Saints 11-5, were led by C Jose Gonzalez who was 4-for-5 with a run scored.
Sioux Falls 10, Sioux City 4
For the second night in a row, the Sioux Falls Canaries defeated the Sioux City Explorers, this time by a final score of 10-4. The Canaries, who outhit the Explorers 11-7, had four players who recorded multi-hit games. Starter Shawn Blackwell was masterful in his outing throwing eight innings, allowing just three earned runs on six hits. Offensively, the Explorers were paced by 2B Noah Perio and 3B Tommy Mendonca who both collected two hits.
Lincoln 4, Wichita 3
Trailing 3-2 entering the top of the ninth, the Lincoln Saltdogs scored two runs to defeat the Wichita Wingnuts 4-3. Lincoln's bullpen was outstanding as Brad Orosey, Matt Brazis, and Evan Reed all threw scoreless innings to propel the Saltdogs to their second win of the season. Brazis earned the win in relief and Reed was credited with the save. Five different Wingnuts had multiple hits in the contest to back starter Anthony Capra who threw seven strong innings, surrendering only six hits, two earned runs along with five strikeouts.
