Sioux Falls Canaries News Release

KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- One of the top arms in the Pecos League is headed to Sioux Falls. George Faue has signed with the Sioux Falls Canaries as a free agent, the club announced Tuesday.

Faue signs with the Birds after an outstanding start to the season with the Pecos League's Monterey Amberjacks. Faue posted a 3.00 ERA and 0.97 WHIP over six starts with the Amberjacks. He struck out out an eye-popping 64 batters in 36 innings of work (16 per nine innings).

Faue was a strikeout machine from his first start of the year, where he struck out 14 batters in five innings (in other words, striking out all but one of the batters he faced).

A Minnesota native, Faue pitched collegiately at Northern Illinois University in 2017 and 2018. He earned a 4.18 ERA over 17 games (10 starts) his senior year at NIU in 2018. He made his professional debut later that summer, making three appearances for the Normal CornBelters of the Frontier League.

The Sioux Falls Canaries start up a 10-game homestand this Friday, July 5, at 7pm. Friday features a special Fourth of July Weekend edition of Friday Fireworks, presented by Sioux Falls Specialty Hospital. Saturday is Ladies Night at the Birdcage. Ladies can buy a special VIP ticket package for the game, including the chance to dig up a pair of $2,000 diamond earrings on the field after the game. More info at sfcanaries.com/DiamondDig.
