NL Sioux Falls Canaries

Canaries and Vipers Rained Out

June 1, 2005 - Northern League (NL)
Sioux Falls Canaries News Release

(Calgary, Alberta) - After a soggy day in Calgary the weather looked like it would hold long enough for a baseball game. Just 3 ½ innings into Wednesday's game the rain came down, and kept coming.

The game looked to be an interesting one, as both teams traded runs throughout the early innings. Jackson Crowther (1-1) took the mound for the Canaries in an effort to take game three from the Vipers.

The Vipers hitters would make that task difficult, as in the first inning Greg Morrison hit a two-run homerun and Carlos Duncan followed up with a solo shot to take the lead 3-1.

The Canaries would answer as Abner Arroyo reached base on an error by Viper's pitcher Jeff Brewer and would go on to score on a wild pitch. Arroyo kept the Canaries offense going in the third as he drove in Edgard Clemente with a double to make the score 4-3.

The game will be made up when the Vipers come to Sioux Falls on Monday, July 4th. The game will pick up where it left off and will play through 7 innings. The second game of the evening will also be seven innings and will be played directly after the make-up game.

The Canaries return to the Birdcage on Friday, June 3rd when the Edmonton Cracker Cats come to town. The first 500 kids (12 and under) will receive a full size wood bat courtesy of Schoeneman's Lumber. Mary Hart will be in attendance on Saturday, June 4th to be honored as the first of the Famous South Dakotan Bobbleheads. Great tickets are still available and can be ordered by calling 605.333.0179 or online at www.canariesbaseball.com.
