
Leon gives Cracker-Cats extra-inning victory

Right fielder Kyle Leon stroked a base hit up the middle in the bottom of the 11th inning tonight to score Jeremy Ware, giving the Edmonton Cracker-Cats a 6-5 win over the Joliet JackHammers. 4252 fans watched the 'Cats pick up their third straight victory. The winning run came off left-hander Joey Siak (0-1), the 4th pitcher of the night for the JackHammers.
Left fielder Stubby Clapp drilled a double and a triple and scored two runs for the'Cats, while first baseman Brandon Kaye added three hits. Edmonton scored their six runs on 12 hits, committed two errors, and left five men on base. Seven players picked up a hit for Joliet, and DH Jim Kavourias drove in two runs in the losing cause.
The bullpen was solid tonight for Edmonton, as lefty Aric Van Gaalen threw 3.1 scoreless innings and right-hander Jim Harrison (1-0) picked up the win after he faced six hitters through the 10th and 11th innings.
The series concludes Wednesday night with southpaw Roberto Avilez (0-2, 9.00) taking the hill for the Cracker-Cats, while right-hander Nathan Kent (1-0, 4.50) will oppose for the JackHammers.
