
California League Announces 2010 All-Star Selections

MODESTO, Cal. - The Modesto Nuts are pleased to announce pitcher Ethan Hollingsworth, catcher Jordan Pacheco and infielder Jimmy Cesario have been selected to represent the team as members of the 2010 California League Mid-Season All Star team. The California League All Stars will take on the Carolina League All Stars Tuesday, June 22 at BB&T Coastal Field in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
Nuts right-handed pitcher Ethan Hollingsworth (Joliet, Ill.) currently* leads the team and holds the seventh-best ERA in the league, boasting a 3.03 mark in 11 games and a 5-4 record. Hollingsworth has struck out 68 in 68.1 innings, good for the third-best mark in the league, has walked only 11 and carries the league's fourth-best WHIP with an impressive mark of 1.16. Hollingsworth will make his first career appearance in an All Star game.
Infielder Jimmy Cesario (New Orleans, La.) leads the Nuts and is seventh in the Cal League in the batting average category, with a .346 mark. Cesario also leads the team and is in the top ten in the league with 41 RBI, and has posted a slugging percentage of .559, the sixth-best mark in the Cal League. Cesario will make his second appearance as a mid-season All Star, after being named to the South Atlantic League roster in 2009.
Nuts catcher Jordan Pacheco (Albuquerque, N.M.) sits in the Cal League top ten in three categories, including batting average with a .335 mark, RBI with 39 on the season, as well as with his on base percentage of .426.Pacheco was named to the 2009 SAL Mid-Season All Star roster, as well as the post-season SAL All Star squad, and was also honored as the 2009 SAL Player of the Year.
Other Cal League All Star selections include: San Jose's Craig Westcott, Eric Surkamp, Justin Fitzgerald, Brandon Belt and Juan Perez, Rancho Cucamonga's Tyler Chatwood, Alexi Amarista and Tyson Auer, Bakersfield player Jose Felix, Lake Elsinore's Brad Brach, Cole Figueroa, Drew Cumberland, Blake Tekotte and Dan Robertson, Visalia Rawhide player Brian Woodall, the Stockton Ports Stephen Parker, Inland Empire's Nathan Eovaldi, High Desert Mavericks players Ken Kasparek and Rich Poythress and Jay Austin of the Lancaster JetHawks.
