CALGARY HITMEN NEWS AND NOTES

HITMEN HEADLINES: Calgary (10-10-1-1) plays game one of a five-game East and Central Division road trip tonight when they visit the Brandon Wheat Kings (16-7-1-1). The Hitmen are coming off Sunday's 6-5 loss to the Saskatoon Blades. Cody Sylvester marked his 200th career game with three points (2g 1a) while Jimmy Bubnick netted one goal and chipped in two helpers for Calgary. Joe Kornelsen and Spencer Humphries also scored in the loss. The Hitmen outshot the Blades 46-30.

VS. BRANDON: Tonight is the second of four meetings with the Wheat Kings. Brandon leads the season series 1-0 following a 5-2 win at Westman Communications Group Place on November 4. Six Hitmen, including Trevor Cheek (1g) and Joe Kornelsen (1g), have one point in the season series while Brenden Walker (2g 2a) and Michael Ferland (1g 3a) top the Wheat Kings with four points each. Last season Brandon and Calgary split the season series with two wins each.

MUCH IMPROVED: Calgary has scored 18 goals while allowing only nine in their last three games.

IN THE BOOKS: Cody Sylvester recorded his 200th career game and 50th career assist on Sunday, Nov. 20. Collin Bowman posted his first career hat trick while Jimmy Bubnick recorded his 100th career assist on Saturday, November 19 in a 7-1 victory over the Prince Albert Raiders.

GETTING NOTICED: Netminder Chris Driedger is ranked second amongst WHL goaltenders in the Central Scouting preliminary rankings for the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. Driedger, the Ed Willams Player of the Month for October, holds a record of 6-5-1-1 with a 2.98 GAA and 0.893 save percentage.

TEAM PACIFIC: Rookie Greg Chase has been named to Team Pacific for the 2012 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge, December 29, 2011 - January 4, 2012 in Windsor, Ontario. Three current Calgary Hitmen, Chase Clayton, Keaton Lubin and Rob Trzonkowski, represented Team Pacific at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in Winnipeg, Manitoba one year ago.

Jimmy Bubnick (3g 5a), Trevor Cheek (2g 3a), Spencer Humphries (2g 2a) and Cody Sylvester (2g 3a) all have points in their last three games. Brooks Macek (2a) and Brady Brassart (2a) are on two-game point streaks. Collin Bowman (3g 1a) had his two-game point streak snapped Sunday.

REGULAR SEASON CAREER WATCH: Brooks Macek is four goals shy of 50. Collin Bowman needs 10 assists for 100 and is four games away from 200.
