Calgary Hitmen News Release

Calgary, AB - The Calgary Hitmen today announced a donation of $7,004.42 to the Calgary Inter-Faith Food Bank.

On December 18th the Hitmen auctioned off the 15th annual Petro-Canada Teddy Bear Toss game worn and game issued jerseys. Net proceeds from the auction totaled $2,504.42 which the Hitmen have now donated to the CBC Suncor Food Bank Drive.

"Having an ongoing relationship with the Hitmen has been very exciting for the food bank," says Calgary Inter-Faith Food Bank Manager of Community Resource Development Nollind van Bryce. "Right now client numbers are about triple our normal daily average and every donation allows our volunteers to continue feeding their neighbors.

Also on December 18th, for the first time this season, there was a winner in the CMAC Mortgages Third Period Jackpot. CMAC Mortgages on behalf of the Calgary Inter-Faith Food Bank correctly guessed the "Hot Minute" time of a Hitmen goal. When Tyler Fiddler scored between the 18th and 19th minute mark of the third period it triggered a $4,500 donation to the food bank.

"We are absolutely thrilled to be donating this money to the food bank," explains CMAC Mortgages Mortgage Specialist Bruce Wilson. "During the holiday season it's especially important to give back to the community to help the lives of those who are less fortunate."

The Hitmen continue a four game home stand on Sunday, January 3rd when they host the Lethbridge Hurricanes. Game time is 5:00 p.m.

Tickets are on sale at all Ticketmaster locations or by calling Customer Service at 403-777-4646.
