Blades Alumnus Erat Makes Team Czech Republic

Saskatoon Blades alumnus Martin Erat (Blade 1999-2001), a member of the NHL's Nashville Predators, has been named to Team Czech Republic for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games men's hockey competition in Vancouver.

A native of Trebic, Czech Republic, Erat was drafted by the Blades 6th overall in the 1999 CHL Import Draft. The right winger played 97 games in a Blades' uniform over a season and a half and had 46 goals and 61 assists for 107 points to go along with 130 penalty minutes.

Erat will be appearing in his second Olympics after competing at the 2006 Olympic Winter Games in Torino, Italy as a member of Team Czech Republic, where he earned a bronze medal.

The 28-year-old Erat has 14 goals and 13 assists for 27 points along with 26 penalty minutes in 37 NHL games this season with the Predators.
