
Calderone and Sanchez Drive in Runs as Fisher Cats fall 7-3 in Reading Wednesday

Reading, PA - Brian Jeroloman had two hits and Adam Calderone and Luis Sanchez each drove in runs, but the Fisher Cats completed the opening road trip of the season with a 7-3 loss at Reading on Wednesday night.
Michael Spidale drove in four runs, three with a sixth inning double, to pace the Phillies (5-2).
New Hampshire (4-2) opened the scoring with a run in the top of the first inning. Darin Mastroianni led off with a single and stole second. He scored on a single by Calderone.
Reading answered back with a run in the bottom of the first. Tyson Gillies tripled and scored on a single by Freddy Galvis.
The Fisher Cats went back in front in the top of the second inning. Adam Loewen, Jonathan Diaz and Jeroloman (2-for-4) each singled to load the bases. Loewen scored on a sacrifice fly by Sanchez to put New Hampshire up 2-1.
The Phillies came right back to tie the game in the bottom of the second inning. Kevin
Mahar (2-for-3) singled, Brandon Pinckney walked and both advanced on a bunt by Melvin Dorta. Mahar scored on a sacrifice fly by Spidale to tie the game 2-2.
Reading moved in front for the first time in the game, 3-2, in the bottom of the fourth inning on a solo home run by Brandon Pinckney, his first of the season off Kyle Drabek.
New Hampshire tied the game in the top of the fifth inning. After consecutive walks to Mastroianni and Calderone, Reading starter Phillippe Aumont threw two wild pitches. Mastroianni scored a run to tie the game at 3-3.
The Phillies moved back in front for good in the bottom of the sixth inning, scoring four runs. Mahar put Reading up with a sacrifice fly before Spidale drilled a bases loaded double, scoring three runs, ending the night for Drabek (1-1).
Drabek allowed seven hits and seven runs (three earned) in 5.2 IP. He walked two and struck out two.
Matt German (1-0) retired all four batters he faced in relief for Reading to earn the win.
Adrian Martin and Tim Collins combined for 2.1 scoreless innings in relief for New Hampshire.
United Way Opening Day at Merchantsauto.com Stadium is scheduled for Thursday, when the Fisher Cats host the Binghamton Mets at 6:35pm.
